Hello! I’m Emily Cook, and I’d love to help you on your musical journey!
I have years of experience teaching clarinet and piano lessons to students of all ages and backgrounds, from children beginning band programs and adults picking up a new hobby to serious students working to embark on a career as music performers and educators themselves.
I perform as principal clarinetist of the Akron Symphony, and have also performed with the symphony orchestras of Pittsburgh, Hartford, and Richmond, VA. I also serve as the artistic director of Kamratōn, a chamber ensemble dedicated to women-created and women-curated new music. I’ve played with jazz-fusion ensemble the Afro-Yaqui Music Collective at venues in Pittsburgh and New York City, and I enjoy performing as an improvisor. I’ve also worked as a church pianist, and enjoy teaching all genres of piano performance.
I teach out of my home in Bloomington and a studio in North Indianapolis, and I’m currently accepting new students in both locations. Please be in touch with questions about rates and scheduling, and I look forward to meeting you!
